How the mockups work

Start with a seamless tile: send one from the repeat maker, drop your own file, or keep the sample. Then enter the width of one repeat, meaning how wide one tile will be once printed. The height follows the tile's own proportions, so the 646 × 508 px sample tile set to 20 cm wide prints 15.7 cm tall.

Each surface is drawn to the real size you give it, so the number of repeats you see is exact:

  • Cushion: a square front from 40 to 60 cm (16 to 24 in), with a ruler under it.
  • Wall: your wall's width and height with a 10 cm skirting board, a 120 cm sideboard and, on walls wide and tall enough, an 82 × 204 cm door for scale. Faint vertical lines show where one strip of wallpaper meets the next for the roll width you pick, and the summary counts the strips (drops) needed to cover the width.
  • Fabric: a hanging length with a pinked bottom edge and a ruler down the side.

The shading only suggests folds and padding; colours on screen will differ from printed ink on cloth or paper, so order a swatch before a big run.

Example: a 20 cm repeat on a 45 cm cushion shows 2.25 times across, so the seams cut through a motif. At 22.5 cm it fits exactly twice, and at 15 cm three times. The same 20 cm repeat on a 3 m wall shows 15 times across, spread over 6 strips of 52 cm European wallpaper.

Questions

How accurate is the scale?

The geometry is exact: every surface is drawn in proportion to the sizes you enter and the repeat width you set, so counts like 2.3 repeats across a cushion are right. The colours, folds and padding are a stylised suggestion, not a photograph.

What repeat size suits a cushion?

There is no single rule. A repeat bigger than the cushion front shows only part of the design, which suits a large statement motif; a small repeat reads as texture from across the room. Try a few widths here and compare them with the ruler.

What are the faint lines on the wall?

They mark where one strip (drop) of wallpaper meets the next, one roll width apart. The pattern carries on across them, as it does on a wall where the drops have been matched. Matching can waste paper on each drop, which the strip count here does not include.

Can I use my own photo of a room?

Not in this tool: it draws its own simple room, cushion and fabric so that the scale is known. To check a design at a glance, download the mockup PNG and compare it with your space.

Does the tile leave my computer?

No. The mockups are drawn in your browser from the tile you choose, and the downloads are made on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
